For our April Member of the Month, we interviewed superstar member Catherine Wei! Read on to learn more about her.

Tell us about yourself! It can be about anything – where you grew up, your professional background, your hobbies, etc.

Hi everyone, my name is Catherine! I moved to NYC after college and have enjoyed being a member of TAP-NY! My professional experience has revolved around marketing since I love that there’s both consumer-centric and data-driven aspects to the field. I currently work in media and tech, specifically focused on measuring advertising effectiveness. In my free time, I enjoy watching YouTube videos, spending time with family and friends, playing board games and tennis, and doing DIY art projects. I also love exploring new places, local or abroad, so can’t wait to do so in the future.

Why did you join TAP? What are your favorite events?

I learned about TAP from social media and also heard about the organization through a friend. I was drawn to the variety of programming events TAP hosts and more importantly, the community TAP fosters since I was looking to meet new people. I’ve truly enjoyed all the events I’ve attended so far (especially game nights), and it’s been great getting to know everyone and see new and familiar faces each time.

What’s your favorite Taiwanese food and why? What’s your go-to restaurant in NYC?

There’s so many delicious Taiwanese foods that it’s so hard to choose a favorite, but I’m a big fan of Beef Noodle Soup, Fan Tuan, and Zongzi! I feel like there’s still a ton of restaurants and cafes in the city that I’ve yet to try, so always love hearing people’s recs and go-tos!

What’s your advice for newer members who want to get more involved?

It can be scary showing up to an event for the first time, but the TAP community is super nice and welcoming! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and continue going to different events. Over time, people who were once strangers become friends! 🙂
