The Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF) is proudly known as “The First Home to Asian American Cinema.” Organized by Asian CineVision, it is the first and longest-running festival dedicated to showcasing the moving image work by media artists of Asian descent for and about the Asian diaspora experience.

The 43rd festival will take place from October 1st to October 11th, 2020, in an entirely online format. There are 17 feature films, 14 short film blocks, and over 16 workshops, masterclasses, and special events.

The film festival features several shorts by Taiwanese and Taiwanese American directors, including the following:

  • TAIWANESE CHA CHA directed by Judie (YuHui) Yang, a fun yet meaningful short dealing with language and cultural reconnection
  • BETWEEN THE NOTES directed by Jordan Hwang, a short documentary chronicling professional music in Taipei
  • WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE RING directed by Yichi Chen, which deals with same sex-marriage in Taiwan
