For our February Member of the Month, we interviewed superstar member Kevin So! Read on to learn more about him.

Tell us about yourself! It can be about anything – where you grew up, your professional background, your hobbies, etc.

Hey everyone, I’m Kevin! I was born and raised right here in NYC. I moved to Philly for college for about 4-years, but ultimately came back to my roots in NYC after graduating.

I’ve worked a ton of jobs over the years, but having studied engineering, originally pursued a construction career as a project assistant. After I got dropped from my former company, I made a spontaneous decision to leave my corporate lifestyle and attempt to enter the entertainment industry. I had quite literally zero connections and never went to film school, but I knew even though I really enjoyed my time in construction, I always wanted a more creative and extroverted job, where I could work with greater diverse groups of people. I was also looking for better work/life balance, so I could have more time to spend with family, friends, to travel, and to work on myself in other areas of life.

I currently work in film and entertainment event marketing, where I make movies and travel to events. I’ve met many celebrities and have learned so much through it!! On my free time, I enjoy filmmaking, juggling, writing, basketball, video games, board games, playing piano, and making music.

Why did you join TAP? What are your favorite events?

One of my goals entering 2019 was to work on my social life and meet new people. My social life was really silent and I rarely ever went out in 2018, so it was a major goal entering 2019 to try to change that. A friend spontaneously took me to a TAP event, told me it was a regular party, so funny enough didn’t even realize I was at a TAP event, until someone told me at the party it was for an actual organization lol. That one event became the domino to everything I now do with TAP.

TAP has really changed my social life and introduced me to so many great people, my favorite events have definitely by far been The Amazing TAP Race and the Summer Cruise Party!!

Tell us something cool that happened to you this past year.

Too many to share, this last year has been one of the best years of my life!! I made a commitment to try to run through a bucket list and create as many memories and experiences as I could, before the year and decade ended.

The most memorable is probably career-wise. I work several positions in entertainment and in this 1-year stretch landed a cameo in a movie that broke numerous box office records and got to see myself on the screen in a movie theater next to Spiderman. The name of the movie is Avengers: Endgame. I spontaneous took part in a dating show that went viral and was recognized randomly on the street, funny enough on my way home from the June 2019 TAPpy Hour. Finally, I landed my first major speaking role on a cooking show on Food Network that just premiered on Sunday January 5, 2020, the beginning of this year and decade!! All this on top of many first experiences and the crazy traveling to several countries, including my first solo trip out of the country!!

I wish every year was like this lol, but it was really a particularly incredible blessed year, and also funny enough the year I joined TAP!!!

If we wanted to hang out, where would we find you?

Most of the monthly TAPpy Hours lol, otherwise I enjoy going to gaming events and chilling at parks, especially in the summer. You can even say many of the film sets you see when you walk around the city. If I’m free, I can even show you around and we can maybe grab drinks afterwards!!

What’s your advice for newer members who want to get more involved?

Introduce yourself and meet as many people as you can and don’t be afraid to come to certain events alone. I came to many of my first couple TAP events not knowing a single person, but through it met a ton. Eventually it becomes a super small world, and you’ll know a ton of familiar faces, very similar to seeing familiar faces on campus in college.
